How to choose a mattress that fits how you sleep
Sleep position, body weight and temperature decide more than any marketing label. Here is the short version.

Firmness is not a quality rating — it is a fit. The right mattress is the one that keeps your spine level in the position you actually sleep in.
Start with your sleep position
- Side sleepers need give at the shoulder and hip: medium to medium-soft.
- Back sleepers need lumbar support without a hammock: medium to medium-firm.
- Stomach sleepers need the hips held up: firm.
Then weigh your build
Heavier sleepers compress comfort layers further, so a mattress feels softer than its label. Lighter sleepers feel the opposite. If you and your partner differ by more than 30 kg, a pocket coil with independent springs beats an all-foam build.
Finally, temperature
If you sleep hot, coils and gel-infused foam move heat away better than a thick memory foam top. Our hybrid and pocket coil models are the coolest in the range.
Not sure? The two-minute sleep quiz asks these three questions and narrows the range for you.
